Virtual Kiltwalk 2021 - Participants
Below is a list of our Lappy Kiltwalk Heroes who are taking part in this years Virtual Kiltwalk in support of Lapwing Lodge Outdoor Centre. You will find a short description of each individual or team, with a link to their fundraising page if you’d like to support them by making a donation.
St Peters Scouters:
St Peters Scout Group have been visiting lapwing lodge for many many years. We have camped on the field, stayed in both hostel and hobbits and provided lots of happy memories and loads of adventures to beavers, cubs, scouts and leaders. The current pandemic means the centre is facing tough times. Lapwing has a fundraising target of 25k to help the centre survive the crisis. Some of the leaders are taking on the Kiltwalk challenge to hopefully raise as much as we can to help this worthwhile cause. We all want somewhere for our members to visit for years to come and continue their scouting adventures. As a team, we aim to walk 25km (to match the £25k that’s needed). Some leaders will walk the full 25km with some doing a portion of the walk. Every penny we raise will be topped up by 50% thanks to the generosity of Sir Tom Hunter and The Hunter Foundation. Any donation you can spare will mean the world to us and our chosen charity. Thank you!
Hi! I’m taking on a Kiltwalk to raise funds for Lapwing Lodge! It’s an outdoor centre used by many youth groups. I have been with the beavers and it was really fun. You get to learn loads of new things, like lighting fires and camping and stuff. I have never been able to go camping there and would really like to learn how to camp! Lapwing Lodge needs funds or it will have to close down!☹️ Please help!!
Hi! I’m taking on a Kiltwalk to raise money for Lapwing Lodge because is a fun place for kids to do cool stuff and I want it to stay open for when me and my friends are bigger.
I am taking part in the Kiltwalk to raise funds for lapwing Lodge Scout Outdoor Centre. Lapwing is a volunteer run centre which offers a wide range of activities and accommodation to Scouting, BB, guiding and all types of youth groups. Lapwing builds confidence and let’s people have so much fun. However the financial impact of covid has hit hard and with residential trips off for the foreseeable future it means Lapwing is very close to closing and with no support from the government Lapwing is desperate for donations to keep letting children have fun for generation.
Hi! I’m taking on the Virtual Kiltwalk to raise funds for a charity close to my heart which has inspired me to give something back while losing some lockdown pounds. Our local outdoor centre, Lapwing Lodge, has had to almost close down during lockdown. Without their usual campers, hostel users and activities participants they’ve had a major loss of income. As a former member of the Centre’s camp staff team and a Venture Scout and Assistant Scout Leader during the 80s and 90s and now as a Cub Scout Leader in Paisley I have many fond memories and experiences from being at the Centre. I’m raising funds to aim to keep Lapwing Lodge open for future users of the Centre.

121st Glasgow Clarkston Lapwing Kiltwalkers:
Lapwing Lodge Outdoor Centre is an amazing asset, well loved by all the Beavers, Cubs and Scouts at the 121st. We’ve enjoyed so many camps and day visits and can’t wait to get back again for more fun and adventure. Due to reduced incomings over the last year, the centre needs to raise £25,000 to ensure it can stay open, they are already well on their way but we want to do our part to help them meet their target.
St Mirins Explorers:
We are taking on a Kiltwalk to raise funds for our local Outdoor Centre, Lapwing Lodge as part of our first face to face meeting in more than a year.
